There are superb walks and views everywhere!

All of the village hostelries serve super quality food and ale, the visitors' book gives previous guests' thoughts on the best ones! There are also three lovely country tea shops and a restaurant, all run by local residents. All four caves are within walking distance of ‘Oatcake’ and there are spectacular walks for you to enjoy in EVERY direction. All the neighbours are friendly and polite, part of a real community village which basks in quiet and solitude. On the first Sunday of every month Castleton holds a farmers market where you can sample all the delicacies and local produce of Derbyshire. In nearby Hathersage is the areas first Organic Restaurant, recently visited by Hollywood actors Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward when they stayed in Castleton Castleton in November 2005. The film Pride and Prejudice is set in this beautiful part of Derbyshire.

Oatcake Cottage is a treasure which everyone loves and to which many return.

Peveril Castle built around 1080

Famous show caverns like the Blue John mine, ancient sites like Peveril Castle, natural wonders such as the 'shivering mountain' of Mam Tor and the improbable and beautiful Winnat's Pass - Castleton has a lot to offer the holidaymaker!

Peace and quiet also available in abundance off-season!

Treak Cliff Cavern

As a great place for a holiday, Castleton is unmatched even in this lovely part of the Peak District.
With stunning scenery taken as read, memorable walks from our doorstep (just around the corner into Cave Dale and you're away!), marvellous cycling (mountain bikers take note) all around, and the most notable attractions of the National Park within easy reach by car, the village is a delightful retreat at all times of year. The Christmas lights twinkling in this delightful village ensure that the Winter season is very popular too - in fact, many people prefer the off-season with the roaring fires in the pubs and the less busy tourist spots.

Castleton itself has many facilities including a handful of good pubs, plenty of places to eat and lots of little shops open all year round. If you prefer you can park the car for a few days and enjoy the whole holiday entriely on foot!

We look forward to meeting and greeting you on your next holiday in the Peak District!
